Her Majesty the Queen, was welcomed by the Representative Deputy Lieutenant for Lambeth Christopher Wellbelove to Emmaus where Her Majesty is a patron. Her Majesty visited their furniture warehouse in West Norwood.
Previously Emmaus Lambeth, they now cover Southwark, Lambeth and Croydon supporting people out of homelessness. Emmaus SLC support 48 formerly homeless people and Her Majesty’s visit was to see some of the women-only provision that is being developed by the charity.
Helen Hayes MP and cabinet member for Housing and Homelessness Councillor Maria Kay discussed some of the issues around housing and homelessness in the borough with Her Majesty, together with learning more about current projects at Emmaus.
