The Representative Deputy Lieutenant for Lambeth welcomed Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Edinburgh when she visited Richard Atkins Primary School in Brixton to celebrate pupils’ fundraising efforts as part of the NSPCC’s Childhood Day.
The Duchess of Edinburgh is Patron of the NSPCC, and during the visit, she met two Speak Out Stay Safe volunteers, who have been working with older pupils at the school. The NSPCC-created workshops help children to understand abuse in all its forms, how to recognise signs of abuse, and where to find support.
The Deputy Lieutenant introduced the Duchess to Lambeth’s Mayor, Councillor Sarbaz Barznji, who was born in the same area of Iraq that the Duchess had recently visited and coincidentally met the Mayor’s cousin.
