Local Government

With 16 years as a local councillor, serving twice as Mayor, parliamentary candidate and working with local and devolved governement on the roll out of superfast broadband – Christopher Wellbelove DL has extensive experience and understanding of what makes government tick.

Since being commisioned as a Deputy Lieutenant Christopher is no longer politically active, however through his role is still works closely with local government.

First elected as a councillor in 2006, Christopher took a seat from an incumbent by just 63 votes following a tight campaign where Christopher used his social media and marketing skills to focus the campaign on key local issues such as parking fines and risks to public services.

Christopher led Labour’s campaign to Save Clapham Fire Station, which was one of few saved from closure.
