Social media continues to grow and for many has become a daily interaction with friends and family around the world. Years ago if you went to a pub or restaurant and saw somebody waiting alone they would probably be smoking a cigarette. Now the new addition is the mobile phone checking Facebook updates or how many retweets they have.
Some cannot go five minutes, even in the company or loved one, without checking their social networks and as the stats in this infographic show young people spend even more time interacting on social media.
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and others are not going away anytime soon, but the need for social protocols around when it is OK in real life social circles to engage with your virtual social life and needed more and more.
Otherwise we could spend more time telling people what a great time we are having on social media that actually enjoying ourselves.
